Breaking: Cerbaiona sold to American Investor

~ Now former owners:  Diego and Nora Molinari ~

News broke from Montalcino yesterday that famed Brunello estate Cerbaiona has been sold to an American venture capitalist who is also a frequent visitor to the estate.

The Molinari's have run the estate admirably since the 1980s and have created one of the most respected wines in Montalcino.  Their 2010 Brunello was awared 100 points by Vinous founder Antonio Galloni.

As first reported by Wine-Searcher,  the buyout brings a sense of continuity to the estate and the new ownership group includes a neighboring producer with decades of experience in the vineyards and production of Brunello di Montalcino. With other locals and long-time professionals, they aim to preserve what many refer to as "the gem of Montalcino".

Buona fortuna!
