US Wine Importer, Vision Wine & Spirits has a filed a lawsuit against the Biondi Santi Estate for breach of contract.
As first reported in Wine & Spirits Daily, Vision Wine & Spirits holds the exclusive contract and right to import Biondi Santi Estate wines and Jacopo Biondi Santi wines in the United States. The current contract expires in June of 2016.
However, over the last few years, the winery has had intermittent stalls in shipping without explanation and stopped shipping entirely to the United States entirely in October 2014, according to the legal complaint filed by Vision.
Biondi Santi has thus far declined to comment on the pending litigation. TuscanVines will keep you informed of any further developments as they become available.
Franco Biondi Santi ran the family estate until his death in 2013. The estate is now run by his son Jacopo. Biondi Santi is an icon in Tuscany and the family is widely credited with the creation of Brunello di Montalcino.
