The Padrone delle Vigne, or loosely translated, The Owner of the Vines, is the entry level IGT rosso to the quality Tabarrini lineup. Inspired and named after current owner, Giampaolo Tabarrini's Grandfather, the "Padrone" is produced with a eye mindful of all that Giampaolo's Grandfather has taught him. It's a worthy homage.
The 2010 Tabarrini Il Padrone delle Vigne is a soft, easy drinking, pleasing wine. This predominantly Sangiovese blend is accented with small amounts of Sagrantino and Merlot and sees minimal refinement in wood.
In the glass the wine is a bright ruby, tinged with violet reflections. The aromas recall fresh berries and fresh mountain herbs. On the palate, the wine is fresh and juicy, with a medium bodied core of red berry fruit and a slight essence of sweet pipe tobacco. It's an easy drinking wine to purchase by the case and confidently serve as a "Rosso della casa". 86 points, about $12. Disclosure: This bottle was a producer provided sample.
We drank the wine so rapidly, I forgot to get a photo of the wine in glass!
