Two 2007 Tuscans Re-Visited

By now, my readers realize that when I recommend a wine, I typically am not doing it solely for their benefit, but for my own as well.  If I say stock up, or back up the truck, you can be confident that I'm doing it too.  I'm betting on the wine as much as you all are and not just praising a single, lone, sample bottle.

With that in mind, two wines I've recommended heartily in the past I've just enjoyed again recently and I think it bears mentioning.

First up, was the 2007 Tolaini Al Passo.  This is a Super Tuscan blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot. At under $20, I've bought over a case of this wine.  It's drinking great now, it will cellar from 5-10 years and provide different glimpses of itself as it evolves.  I first tasted the wine back in August, and then again this past week.  It's drinking just as well now and hasn't changed much. Though I will say that the notes of "animal" or "decay" that I picked up the first time were not as intense during this tasting. The wine is rich, balanced and delicious.   I stand by my original rating.  2007 Tolaini Al Passo - 93 Points

The next example is the 2007 Terrabianca Campaccio.   This is also a Super Tuscan blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet.  I last tasted this wine back in January and the second tasting was just 2 nights ago.  Again, at under $20, I've bought quite a bit of this and fully expect to enjoy these over the next 3-5 years if I can keep my hands off them that long.  In looking back at my previous review, the one thing I noticed was the floral component to the nose of the wine.  I think that was even more pronounced this time and it was amazing to smell.  I would reiterate my original review on this wine as well, but may also add a point or two as the aromatics were more expressive. Here's the original note:   2007 Terrabianca Campaccio - 90 Points

Salute!
